LearnIT Community Association is looking for individuals who, on a volunteer basis, can join our team, add value and work with
us to develop strategies, raise funds and "steer" LearnIT Study Support.
Ideally, the individual should come from a business background and be conversed in writing business plans, brainstorming ideas and deploying strategies.  The person needs to be passionate about education and community and have a desire to promote the development of children, young people and adults through education to enable them to make a positive contribution to society.
We meet about once every 6 weeks for a couple of hours, usually at 5pm on a Wednesday.

Since March 2011 we have raised funds to enable a number of successful projects to run:

Steps into Storytelling
This project provides additional learning and personal development opportunities for young children and their parents/carers. It develops language, communication and literacy skills through creative story telling using the following media: IT, the natural environment and physical activity. Parents/carers are included in the activity and upskilled in IT enabling them to access accredited qualifications and establish community story telling clubs.

Film and Fitness

Awards for All

A healthy living initiative providing recipes, creative crafts and sports, aimed at Reception and Year 6 children.  Schools produce a DVD of their activities to ensure project sustainability.  Parents have the opportunity to train as volunteers to achieve accredited qualifications to lead such projects themselves within their school and local community.

Let’s Talk
To develop speech and language skills amongst pre-school children (age 3-4 years) through the provision of creative play experiences, interactive story telling and physical activity. Also to enable parents to support their child’s early speech and language skills by providing them with every day ideas and experiences to encourage talk in the home and the natural environment.

Additional Projects

Further to this we offer a host of Summer holiday activities and transition work for children from Reception through to Year 6.

We are always happy to develop bespoke courses tailored to meet individual need and welcome any queries, please feel free to contact us.
